What are strategies and tactics? For a poker game, strategies are complete preparations and behaviour for the whole game. It is like a way in which certain exercises are done to achieve the end goal, profit. The tactics one does are those exercises contributing in the main strategy. These only make sense and work when they are contributing towards helping the strategy. It is seen a lot of the time that players try to only think of certain tactics as strategy which explains the little understanding their playing style and game shows. The players who make their focal point some tactical ideas keep beating about the bush and miss the mob for a small amount of people.

Strategic thinking in poker
Poker is an easy game but players who lack strategical thinking make their games more complex and less fun for themselves while just trying to go for tactics. Strategies can be condensed down to few words for e.g. am I playing to win, am I playing to burn chips or am I playing to have fun. Keeping this thing in mind, a player can make effective tactics to play and knows what not to play. A good strategy makes all the decisions and decision-taking process easier. If one knows the road and the destination, then it is very easy to travel and this also helps in surpassing problems. Otherwise, going only with tactics would leave you wondering what to do when you see turns, bridges, forks and might leave you so confused that one might not be able to traverse trees, let alone traversing potholes and roadblocks.

Poker tactics
It can be seen lots of time that ”tactical” players get into situations without having any idea as to how they got there and how they would get out. Having well-defined strategy helps in easy playing as poker situations are always unique. A strategy is a series of steps and concepts for e.g. you desire to win, you contain a certain amount of money so you can only play till a certain limit, you have to select table and game that are suited according to your playing style, and you have to only play those hands that are gainful for long term, if you cant judge bluffers then you have to play in such a way that less bluffs are played against you etc. These steps would ensure easy and simplified playing.

The characteristics are never-ending. The more one broods over the strategy, tactical decisions become that much more simplified. With well planned strategy, you would know how you got yourself in a situation and how you would get out of it. You would know the answers to questions passed, happening and that are yet to happen.

When people talk about the knowledge required to play winning games and be an excellent player, it is seen that tactics play a very small percentage of the discussion. Strategies make winners out of players. Having good tactical skills just increases the earning, wins and losses are determined by strategies.
